Swimming At Grandma's

After a big Mexican feast Saturday night (I made pico de gallo, guacamole, tortilla, flautas, marinated flank steak, rice and beans, and strawberry-cucumber margaritas) , we decided to be lazy on Sunday.  Husband was working, so Gabriel and I slept in (after getting up at 0530 we took a long nap through noon...wonderful).  After our nap, we went swimming at Grandma's, which Gabriel enjoyed immensely.  I'm getting a little nervous though because we are in the process of buying a home with a very large pool and my little man does not yet know how to swim.  He's completely fearless....so I've been thinking of just letting him go at it...if you know what I mean.  He just jumps in the water without regard to if he can stand up or not.  So I'm thinking I'll just let him...and he'll sink under.  But hopefully his natural instincts will kick in.  We'll see.  He does know how to somewhat kick his feet.  I'll update his progress as he makes it.  In the meantime....here are some pictures (he did have on baggies, but this was the second trip around...so he's nakey).

  1. Haha! So cute! Love the bum in the air in the one photo. He'll get the hang of it. They say the most important things to teach are floating on their backs and turning and swimming immediately to the side of the pool after they jump in. I think the Y has swim classes in the evenings. I'm thinking about enrolling Sam some time after his birthday.

    1. I actually signed him up at Daytona State. They have classes at all times and it's only $40. We start June 4. I'm excited! Here's the poster if you're interested - we're going to the 5:15 class.
