And So It Goes.

Some women are born to be pregnant.  They handle pregnancy with grace and poise, never offering up a complaint or gripe.  They are always smiling and that so obvious "pregnancy glow" will stay with them through the end.  Pregnancy fills them with joy, gratefulness, and wonder.

Today, I am 31 weeks pregnant.  And I too am filled with wonder.  I wonder how much longer I can squeeze my fat feet into my shoes.  I wonder if it is possible for my breasts to get any larger without rupturing.  I wonder if I am going to be birthing an infant or a toddler.  I wonder if being bad at being pregnant means you could quite possibly be bad at being a mother.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing greater than feeling the little guy bouncing around inside your belly.  Each movement brings a smile to my face.  I daydream about what it will be like holding him, looking into his eyes, and smelling him (yes, the good and the bad...I'm gross, I know).

And so it goes, that today, not only am I exactly 31 weeks pregnant, but I am also exactly 31 years old.  And there is so much to celebrate.  Here are some things that are topping my list.

  • The growing baby inside my belly.
  • My thoughtful and patient husband.
  • My family, a support system like none other.
  • Our new home and the monsters that live there with us.
  • My and my loved one's health and good fortune.
  • My pant's elastic waist.

Happy New Year!
