Sunday with Daddy

Due to Tropical Storm No Name No Hype, we spent Sunday lounging about the house in pjs.  Some of us wore more pjs than others, not to name any names.  I couldn't think of a better way to spend this time with Kirk while he is home.

First Cherrios!  He kept using his teeth.

He had a hard time finding his mouth.  =(

Moving

Like many Americans, we were upside down on our mortgage after the first year in our new home.  So Kirk and I definitely did the happy dance when we found out FEMA would like to purchase our home in order to expand a retention pond in our neighborhood that will hopefully prevent floods in the future.  The best part is, while we aren't getting rich, we can afford to get out of a neighborhood that we weren't crazy about and move closer to the family.  The second best part is we are allowed two years to find a home that suits our family.  And the third best part is interest rates and home prices are much, much lower than when we were shopping two years ago.  So it's a win, win, win situation.

On the flip side, we're moving again.  Ugh.  So between Kirk starting a new job, me working full time and both of us trying to get in as much family time as possible, we're home shopping.  Optimally, we won't be moving until after the holidays, but if something perfect comes up, we're going to jump on it.  So that's our current situation.  Busy, busy, busy.  Happy hump day!

Better Home and Garden

Our backyard was in need of some work.  There was a major slope and a large sand pit from after the flood in 2009.  The dogs loved the sand pit.  They would roll in it, then go inside and shake.  Fun times for a neat freak.  Anyhow, Kirk has taken on the project.  He ordered 3...that's right THREE full sized dump trucks full of dirt.  He also ordered 5 pallets of sod.  And lets not forget the 250 pavers, which he intended to lay himself.  Work started about 4 weeks ago.  He has been a busy beaver.

Our backyard before we bought the home...mostly...before the dogs arrived.

After the dogs arrived...here you can see the sand pit.  And me torturing the dogs.

The dirt arrived.  And so did some guy with a Bob Cat to spread it.

The supervisors.

Sod arrived!

We asked Uncle Al to help lay it.

And here are the pavers!  Aren't they beautiful.  This was a MUCH bigger job than Kirk expected.

And this is what we have so far.  Obviously, those beds need to be filled.  It's a work in progress!
